He said that substantial resources are being spent for providing state-of-the-art facilities in health sector, checking unemployment, promotion of quality education as well as accelerating the pace of development in the province at local level.
He said that initiatives have been made for practicable development projects by regenerating the resources. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting held to review the pace of progress on setting up of medical college in D G Khan, at Assembly Chambers Lahore on Friday.
Provincial Minister for Local Government Sardar Dost Muhammad Khan Khosa, Dr Saeed Elahi MPA, Imran Ahmed member P&D, Secretary Health, Chief Architect and high ranking officers of health, finance, local government and other departments attended the meeting. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa directed timely completion of development projects in backward areas and starting construction of medical college as early as possible. He said that by increasing the health budget, the present government has ensured modern health facilities and free medicines to poor and resource less people.
He said that huge amount is being spent annually on the provision of free medicines in DHQ and teaching hospitals in the province. He said that medical facilities were available to influential people in past, however, present government has made ensure the availability of free of cost medicines to the deserving and poor patients also.
